I often struggle to find a restaurant that offers healthy and wholesome options on their dinner menu. Breakfast and lunch is easy - there are an abundance of cafes around Sydney that offer plenty of the kind of food that I like to eat when dining out. Dinner, however, is another story.
So you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled across the dinner menu at Clubhouse in Rosebery, which to my delight was filled with an abundance of options that spoke straight to my heart (and stomach).
The relaxed yet super cool vibe of the restaurant takes inspiration from the Surf Life Saving Club, being linked to the Surf Life Saving Australia's National Headquarters. There is both outdoor and indoor seating that makes it the perfect spot for big or small groups. The dinner menu is designed for sharing, which I always love because I am able to sample a range of the dishes.

We started with the swordfish hardshell tacos with ceviche, celeriac remoulade, tomato and corn. The taco was crunchy and worked well with the meaty chunks of fish and delicious accompaniments. One of the most popular dishes at Clubhouse, for good reason. The tuna crostini with lemon, chives and chilli were also great. The tuna was incredibly fresh. As a massive fish lover, I adored both dishes.
I just loved both of these salads. On the left is the cauliflower salad with goats curd, macadamia, raisins, pomegranate and honey cumin vinaigrette, and on the right is the pickled beetroot salad with quinoa, spicy pepitas, smoked goats curd and habanero vinaigrette. Both full of flavour and textures, and refreshing accompaniments to our meal.
An absolute standout for me was the fish of the day (salmon) with saffron infused potato fondant, zucchini and carrot puree. The fish was cooked to perfection, so soft and melts in your mouth. I LOVE a good crispy skin and this one was amazing. It adds a crunchy, textural component to the dish. All the other elements were sensational, full of flavour and worked together beautifully. A light, yet wholesome and nourishing dish.
As full as we were after our meal, the dessert menu was simply irresistible. The Clubhouse Gaytime with toffee parfait, honeycomb and caramel sauce is a must. The flavour combination took me back to my childhood and reminded me of warm Summer days eating Golden Gaytime ice-creams. The caramel sauce was probably the best I've ever tasted. This dessert was honestly phenomenal. The mint creme brûlée was also delicious. I was intrigued and somewhat skeptical when I first saw the mint-y take on the classic creme brûlée, however it surprisingly worked beautifully. The mint addition helped to cut through the richness of the dessert. Both sensational dishes.
The Clubhouse is a fantastic spot for dinner with a group, with the dishes designed to be shared. They also serve breakfast and lunch, which I have no doubt would be just as amazing. And do me a favour. When you go, order the Gaytime. Both your childhood and adult self will be eternally thankful.
