Three Bags Full was our final stop in Melbourne, and oh boy was it worth lugging our suitcases around town for! Three Bags Full has been a top contender in the Melbourne food scene for quite some time, and after having a stalk of the menu and reading reviews I knew it was a must for our trip.
One (of the many) things that I loved about Melbourne is the layouts of the cafes. Three Bags Full is a prime example of this. The cafe contains a number of small rooms with different sized tables, as well as extensive outdoor seating. Being a chilly day, we chose a table inside right next to a large window (all about that lighting, you know how it is!).

To start, I opted for a peppermint tea, which certainly hit the spot. How beautiful are the tea pots and table settings!? So cosy, I would have been quite content perched here sipping tea all afternoon.
We started with yuzu lime yogurt with mulled pear, freeze dried fruits, berries and broken oat cookies. This was not something I would ordinarily order, but after it being recommended to us by the helpful staff, we couldn't resist. Turns out, we loved (not surprising). I was blown away by how stunning the dish was - the edible flowers definitely had a part to play. The tart yogurt worked beautifully with the sweetness of the berries and cookies. The mulled pear was hidden underneath all the goodies and was a wonderful surprise. As my first time eating freeze dried fruits I found them super intriguing and actually really enjoyed their taste and texture. It was a fun dish to eat and oh so tasty!
Next up was the pulled lamb flatbread with pumpkin hummus, feta, shaved carrot, pomegranate and sesame. This dish honestly blew me away. It was a combination of my favourite flavours (I am a hummus girl through and through). I also am just loving lamb at the moment, and this one was cooked to perfection - so tender. I could seriously eat this everyday. In the background was the smashed avocado on toast with Yarra Valley feta, cherry tomatoes, radish, black sesame & extra virgin olive oil. Again, delicious, however slightly too rich for my tastings as there was large chunks of feta mixed throughout the avocado. We were warned that it was quite a rich dish, so I was expecting it. Regardless, the smash packed a punch of flavour and is a very generous portion.
Three Bags Full know good food. They have been around long enough to know the game, and they play it well. Very well. The menu has a huge variety and guaranteed something everyone will love! Get around it y'all.
